A Cross-Border Initiative to Help Innovative Startups

The I-KNOW Project

I-KNOW is a collaborative project between Malta and Sicily that’s supporting the creation of innovative start-ups and strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium enterprise.   Through I-KNOW, we’ve been creating resources and holding events to promote open innovation and cross-border relationships, with the culmination for 2019 to be MedFest, an exciting live event to stimulate investment in innovation.

How to Start a Business in Malta - PDF Booklet

Have a look at the Handbook of how to go Self-Employed in Malta. Here you will find some insightful comparisons between working for yourself and being employed. Keep in mind that this outlines compliance for the simplest form of business – being self-employed.

Learning Resources

Everyone should have access to the best business-building tools available, so we’ve created an online course to teach the essentials of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, developed as part of the I-KNOW project.

Outstanding Events in Support of New Enterprise

Malta Enterprise and TAKEOFF, the Enterprise Campus, have collaborated to organise three outstanding events in support of the development and growth of new enterprise, covering the spectrum from start-up to equity financing of high-tech, high-growth business.

These events offer an excellent opportunity to network, receive expert advice, share experiences and strengthen entrepreneurial skills.

MedFest Call - FAQs For Applicants

MedFest Call (Closed)

MedFest will be held at the University of Malta campus in Valletta on 14 December, 2019.  This exciting, invite-only event will give eight entrepreneurs (four from Sicily, four from Malta) the chance to ‘pitch’ for equity finance to an audience of invited ‘business angels’ seeking promising, early-stage companies to invest in.   To find our entrepreneurs we’ve opened a ‘MedFest Call’ for applications, from which a short list of candidates will be chosen.  Selected applicants will receive a world-class, intensive education in entrepreneurship and how to raise equity finance, under the expert guidance of our mentors.

If you have an innovative business, or business idea, then we strongly encourage you to apply for this opportunity.
