Step up for Parkinson’s
Patients with Parkinson’s Disease suffer from extreme difficulties initiating movement which results in “freezing” and worsens as the disease progresses over time. Tremor is another feature of the disease and causes, even more, stress, even shame, and can create isolation and depression resulting in an extreme low-quality lifestyle. When practicing fun interactive dance classes, on a twice a week basis patients improve movement, their breathing and their weight shifting improves. The tremor is less visible, and patients in general experience the fun, as they are dancing, and not confronted with their PD but feel it more like a social happening.
